“…Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6)
Have you ever tried to do something in your own strength and completely blew it? Have you ever been behind a slow driver on a highway and wished they would speed up? Have you ever thought that God was moving too slow in answering your prayers or making something happen for you?
I have, many times.
There are times in life when we may feel all-powerful or feel like we are on top of the world and can conquer anything. Those are the times that we need to check our motives, our priorities, and our purpose in life. God wants us to realize that His speed and timing is not the same as ours. His thoughts and plans are not the same as ours either. The plans that He has for your life and my life will come to pass, but we have to be willing to wait on Him.
The Bible tells us in Zechariah 4:6, “…Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” We cannot do anything in our own strength. All that we are and all that we will be and do in life, will be because of God and will be done in His timing.
Lord, we often have a tendency to wish for things to happen quickly, for our prayers to be answered now, for our situation to change at this very moment. But Lord you know what is best for us and your plan and timing is perfect. Help us to spend less time rushing you and more time learning to be patient, learning to trust, learning to live in the center of your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
